WINDMERE RETRIEVERS TRAINING PROGRAMS
BASIC OBEDIENCE
ONE MONTH - 4 to 6 months or older - This course will teach your dog how to be a good companion. Learning how to walk on lead /leash without pulling, not jumping up, heeling, sitting, coming when called along with basic field work and retrieving. We'll train them to respond to both voice and also whistle commands if desired.
BASIC GUNDOG
3 TO 6 MONTHS - 6 months or older - This is where the fun begins, your dog will start to becoming your hunting partner. All the basics of field work and retrieving. Lots of marks, live flyers, learning to be steady. Dog will be force fetched and collar conditioned. This training will take your dog to the AKC JH orJunior Hunter level.
INTERMEDIATE GUNDOG
6 months or older - depends on previous training - This is where your dog begins to understand that this is his job. He will be steady, see more advanced marks, doubles, diversions, concepts, decheating, blind concepts, basic cold blinds and handling, learning to honor another working dog. This will take your dog to the AKC SH or Senior Hunter level and serve as a launching pad for the more advanced Master level work.Timeframe for this training, with the proper basics is generally 3 to 6 months. However many factors will determine how quickly a dog progresses.
ADVANCED GUNDOG
Dogs at this level amaze people who have never seen a truly trained retriever. Your dog will learn advanced marking concepts and multiple marks, longer more difficult blinds with factors, poison birds, and all the other tricks of the trade that will turn your dog into a finished retriever. You will be able to take your dog into any bird hunting environment anywhere and he will be able to comprehend and deal with whatever may come his way. When you see on an outfitters website or brochure, the statement:
"you are welcome to bring your own WELL TRAINED RETRIEVER"
This is the dog that they are talking about!!!!!!!
HUNT TEST HANDLING
We are proud to handle the retrievers we train in hunt test competition and encourage you to consider letting us compete with your dog. This not only exposes your dog to a new situation but also allows us to gauge how well we are teaching your dog to handle it. In addition your dog will achieve titles and benchmarks that are readily recognizable by anyone in the retriever world. This exposure will also show your dog to a large pool of people who may potentially be interested in breeding to, or purchasing a puppy from, your dog.
If you are interested in entering an event on our running schedule, let us know, we can handle everything for you and include the entry fee on your monthly invoice.
ONE ON ONE TRAINING CONSULTATION
These sessions train the owner/handler as well as the dog. If you have specific problems or questions dealing with your dog or understanding how to handle them, this will help. We will work the dog and handler both through the problem or just work with the handler on controlling the dog and getting the desired response.
RATES
MONTHLY TRAINING FEE IS $550.00
CONSULTATION FEE IS $50.00/HR
HANDLING FEE IS EQUAL TO THE COST OF THE TEST
TRAVEL EXPENSES ARE EQUALLY DIVIDED BETWEEN ALL DOGS TRAVELING TO THE TEST.
HEARTWORM PREVENTIVE - $12.00 PER MONTH
FLEA AND TICK PREVENTIVE - $10.00 PER MONTH
ALL TRAINING FEES ARE PRE-PAID AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH.
